#REFRESHTHECITY FT. LEE JEANS

#RefreshTheCity Lee Jeans

Watching old movies, especially the one’s that released when I wasn’t born enthral me. Not because they had my favourite actor or song in it. Just the fact that a world existed when I didn’t makes me curious! Makes me nostalgic! We live in nostalgia most of our lives. We cling to memories, as that’s what we are left with. It is this emotion that has brought me to ‘BLUEMADEGREEN’.

Thanks to Lee Jeans and their conscious-driven campaign #RefreshTheCity. This SS16, Lee Jeans have invented the Jade Fusion jeans. What sets this apart from your regular blue skinny’s are the oh-so-refreshingly-cooling effect. The technology used make them a premium pair of jeans. Click here to read more about them.

The Lee campaign #RefreshTheCity wants to redefine urban lifestyle. Hence by the virtue of being a fashion/lifestyle blogger I decided to get on board and as part of this campaign I got the opportunity to meet and appreciate artists who are making a difference. But before you go on and read about them take a look at how I am refreshing the city. I went riding in the huge lush green Cubbon Park of Bangalore city. The Horticulture Department has made the park Vehicle- free on Saturdays & Sundays. So no cars, no noise pollution on weekends. I’d like to says its pure bliss.

Prabha Rajkumar – The Lady Behind BLUEMADEGREEN

The unwavering Ratna Prabha Rajkumar strongly believes in “ Value resources and save the planet”. Prabha runs an upcycling boutique in her house in Bangalore. She transforms old denim into new denim accessories & new wearable garments.

Upcycling is an even greener way of recycling . Prabha found a new purpose for unwanted items before she could chuck them away. I spent a lovely afternoon at her house exploring some of her creations. I must say that I am completely fascinated by her energy and passion for Upcycling old denims. A fashion designer by profession, Prabha didn’t just want to be designing regular clothes. From designing for family and friends to now customising for people all over India, BlueMadeGreen is almost three years old.

Up cycled Denim Back Pack

To me, Prabha is a story teller as she spins the most sentimental stories. The Denim stories!

“ A client gave me her son’s out-grown jeans and asked me to up cycle them into something wearable and durable for her little daughter” I created this little dress”

Naisha wearing a pretty denim dress what was once her brother’s jeans. Now that’s a story in itself!

Today, Prabha receives tons of denim for customisation. Her passion and finesse make her an exceptionally fabulous artist.

Procycle ( Bangalore ) is a bicycle store with a difference.  The reason why I say that is because these enthusiastic riders don’t just run a bicycle shop but encourage locals to #getoutandride the pollution-free two wheeler. The last time I remember riding a bicycle was when I was 13 ( My mountain riding stint at Vancouver last year doesn’t qualify for riding especially after the nasty falls I had..LOL) . So when I came across The Procycle Club I couldn’t help but seize the opportunity to meet and shoot these highly motivated riders.

And the story unfolds….

Mr Vikram Limsay started his company 3 years back.  “The experience of riding a bicycle is diminishing” Says Limsay.

Mr Vikram Limsay, MD Procycle.

He wished more people opted for the two wheeler on a daily basis to commute in the city. The idea is not just to burn calories but to enjoy Bangalore’s indigenous architecture and the picturesque cityscapes . Riding through the beauty of the city and acknowledging the very existence of the city you live is of utmost importance and refreshes your city too.  Hence came the formation of The Procycle Club.

How does it work?

First let me say, not having a cycle of your own should be the least of your worries and an excuse you can throw out of the window.

2) You and your friends can rent one from the Procycle Store instead. Choose a day you want to go riding. If you have a busy schedule during the week, Pick a weekend! {That’s what I did! 😉 }

3) Meet time is usually 6:00 am. ( The best hour to go riding ).

4) The ride begins by 6:20 am. This is usually a three hour route with a thirty minute breakfast  stop at old & quaint Bangalore Breakfast places.

The Route : Procycle Store Indira Nagar – CMH Road – Old Madra Road -Ulsoor Lake -TV Tower – Makeri Circle _ Malleshwaram _ Breakfast – Back to the store ( Indira Nagar )

*Routes Change as per the group decision of the riders.

5) Make sure you ALWAYS ride with your HELMET on.
